Hydrophobic column
Hydrophobic chromatographic column is a method to separate biological macromolecules according to different hydrophobicity on the molecular surface. Some hydrophobic groups are often exposed on the surface of biological macromolecules such as proteins and peptides. These hydrophobic groups are called hydrophobic patches. Hydrophobic patches can interact and bind with hydrophobic chromatography media. Due to different hydrophobicity of different molecules, the hydrophobicity action between them and hydrophobicity chromatography is different. Hydrophobicity chromatography is based on this principle to separate and purify biological macromolecules such as proteins and peptides.
